Audio Commentary
The audio commentary we scripted over the weekend is being recorded today. We hope that this will help the target audience to better understand the choices we made while filming, and the messages we were trying to carry across.

This is a conventional film-noir establishing shot; there is dim, dark lighting and a mysterious sillouete. There is an enigma as to who this strange figure is and it causes the audience to pose questions.
In this shot, there are several conventions of the detective genre, however, the main and most important one is the desk that the detective is sat at. This is a key prop in almost all detective films as it is usually where the detective gets assigned his job, and the story unfolds.
Another convention of the detective film genre is that the usually detective smokes cigars/cigarettes. We chose to add this since it adds a sense of authenticity to our film opening.
Premiere evaluations
Overall the audience were impresses with our mise en scene, our chosen background music, the comedic gags of the film, our first shot of the character opening a door and walking past the camera and the general conventions of our film.
Improvements: More camera shot types, costumes, editing, its not black and white, the opening sequence was slightly too long and it went over the 2 minute time limit, on a certain clip the voice was not loud enough to be heard by eveyone.

Filming...
We began filming after many setbacks (members being ill and the key to the room being unavailable) when we finally recorded our first piece of footage we were all pleased with the outcome, this encouraged us to continue to work even harder to meet the deadline and succeed in our task.

Props Galore!!
Our school's drama department gave us access to all of their props, incase we needed them for our film. From this room we have obtained several key props for our film such as: a wine bottle, old fashioned type writer and an old fashioned phone. These are just perfect for our film genre we then went back to the room we're using and set these up on our desk for the ideal room layout.

More Slapstick!
after watching the Peter Sellers' pink panther we have come up with many more slapstick jokes for our film. Watching this has aided us very well because we have been influenced by Sellers, to create our own comedic jokes.
Filming
Tommorow will be the perfect day to record because we have no lessons. Luke and lewis have finished the full storyboard, shotlist and script. Because of this we should have alot of our filming done tommorow. All but one of our props are currently in the school meaning it should run as planned.
Location
We have found the perfect location for our film. There is a room in our school which has no computer in it. Making it easier for us to use the room without having to move things out.
This room was suggested to us by our teacher and after having a look at it we have all decided that it is where we will set our film.
we will take a picture of this and post it onto our blog as soon as possible

Gathering Music
Today we have decided to collect our music for our intro
To get the copyright free music we went on the website: audio.lgfl.or.uk
We have also all decided to keep the story we had originally thought of which is in our presentation draft.
By the next lesson we intend to have a hand drawn storyboard started (possibly even completed)

Presentation
Yesteday we presented our first draft of our pitch to the class and we were given tips and criticisms from people in the class inc. teachers.
Some of these were:
(1) There is an old fashioned phone in our school's drama props cupboard.
(2) To watch "Sledgehammer" a drama series of the same theme we are trying to make.
(3) Also to watch "Deadmen don't wear Plait"
(4) Watch the original "inspector calls"
(5) Entirely black and white
(6) Location is KEY
(7) Mr Lewis's office may be a good place to make the detectives office.

Starting Off
Today we watched the opening of Naked Gun, Pink Panther and police squad to gather some information of what is expected of a parody detective film opening.
We noticed that although they are parodies, they still contain may of the conventions of detectives films. These include; Costume, lighting and the stereotypical office location.
